DESCRIPTION: Endeavour® Priming Oil is a 1 coat only, highly
penetrative RAW
wood primer specifically developed for EXTERIOR
(only) marine timbers. It is formulated to drive pure TUNG OIL,
biologically–active clove/eucalyptus extracts and refined Bees Waxes
to the extent of penetration. This is to commence the level of effective
timber sealing (water/weather-proofing)
below the wood’s outer surface.

USES: EXTERNAL use only. Preserving/Priming marine utilised RAW
timbers, although not to be considered as an anti-fouling measure.

NOTE: Given you maintain surfaces with Finishing Oil OR White Wax at prescribed intervals this Priming Oil should not be required again.
SIZES AVAILABLE: 500ml, 1 litre and 2 litre cans

1. EXPOSED TEAK (and other) DECKING:
It is not absolutely necessary to progress to full finishing on teak decks. Bearing in mind your timber’s desired oil-content status, you should, intheveryleast, lightly oil decks every 6-12 months (with Priming Oil – preferably “Goldteakwood”). Lightly wash, lightly oil – with Endeavour® of course! It is LINSEED that gives the oiling principle aesthetics (and safety) issues i.e. not drying, blackening IN the wood, fostering mould/mildew growth, and with ‘grip’ concerns over all.

NOTES ON PRIOR/EXISTING FINISHED TIMBERS:
i) Recently oil-finished timbers (within the last 4 months) should not require this Priming Oil.
Choose Endeavour® Finishing Oil OR Endeavour® White Wax for your finishing/ongoing
maintenance.
ii) Old coat/resin film-build processes such as marine varnishes and water/solvent-borne
acrylics (plastics) should be removed entirely with sanding a further 0.5mm into the surface
to ensure Priming Oil’s best access into the wood.

2. CLEAR or COLOUR ENHANCING OPTIONS:

Oval: CLEAR Clear oils can only deliver the protection provided by their contained ingredients. Without colourants they will steadily fade under U-V ray exposure; therefore, is best chosen for easy-to-rejuvenate items such as grabrails, beading, trim etc. (“Gold Teakwood enhancer’s” propensity to stain gelcoat/fibreglass promotes our “CLEAR” as a prudent option for wood attached to such).

Oval: GOLD TEAK WOOD enhancer The “Gold Teakwood enhancer” furthermore restricts U-V fading with solulable earth mineral colourants. This concept provides a translucent wood tone without blanketing out natural woodgrain/character. “Gold Teakwood Priming Oil is advocated for exposed, broad-area projects such as decking, cabins, masts etc.

NOTE: When finishing (or maintaining) a 50/50 mix of CLEAR and Gold Teakwood (or alternating between when re-oiling) can keep colour-depth lighter.

KEY PREPARATION ADVICE: (before first using Priming Oil)
a) Prior to oiling, ensure timber is thoroughly cleaned & left to dry. (min. 24 hours)
b) Dry sand all surfaces to 120 grit paper (DO NOT sand finer; and commencing grits relevant
to state of surface). With worn, topside decking refer to White Wax – SPECIAL NOTE a) for preparatory advice.
c) We recommend the masking up of surrounding, non-timber formwork. The colourants in “Gold Teakwood enhancer” would stain gelcoat/fibreglass etc., quickly rubbing spills with wood alcohol (methylated spirits) may alleviate.

KEY APPLICATION ADVICE:
a) With brush or applicator apply ONE coat of Priming Oil ONLY, leaving to penetrate
for 20 - 30 minutes, then cloth in ALL excess oil evident. (DO THIS - IT IS IMPORTANT).
b) Read can’s label for storage/disposal/health/safety advice.

Coverage: 10 - 14 square metres of surface area per litre.

CURING PERIOD OF PRIMER PRIOR TO APPLYING FINISHING OPTIONS:
a) If choosing Endeavour® Finishing Oil , wait for the minimum 2 – 3 days (maximum 28 days).
b) If choosing Endeavour® White Wax, permit a minimum 14 days (maximum 60 days). Whilst awaiting these curing periods to elapse, feel free to use your vessel.
